Kenneth Byrum is a veteran attorney in our Bakersfield office where his practice focuses primarily in probate and estate planning and dispute resolution, and he has been cited as one of the top rated lawyers in alternative dispute resolution by Martindale Hubbell and The American Lawyer. Ken’s extensive experience in litigation, construction, real estate, business transactions, corporate law, energy, oil, gas and mineral law, give him an advantage while working as a mediator, arbitrator, corporate director or court appointed discovery referee.
With a dad who only completed the third grade, and a mom who finished high school in her 50’s, Ken and his siblings received strong encouragement to be educated, and a mentor and friend suggested law school, which ultimately paved the way for his over 40 years of experience in a successful practice of mediation services. He takes great pride in providing this beneficial service to courts and lawyers. He’s uniquely qualified to assist parties in finding common ground and achieving settlements, even in the most challenging circumstances. Ken’s skills assist parties in finding resolutions where both parties are able to provide a measure of perspective. He has successfully mediated complex cases encompassing a broad section of practice areas, including cases in product liability, personal injury and medical malpractice. When appointed as a corporate director, Ken can provide the necessary assistance for sometimes turbulent and unfortunate disputes that may occur within a corporation.
A life-time runner (now walker), Ken exercises 45 minutes daily on walks with trek poles, and on a rowing machine during inclement weather. He enjoys the company of a lot of close friends, and attends church – the same one for over 50 years.
