Chris Flail is a corporate and transactional attorney working in the business and finance practice group out of our Sacramento office. Chris’ work includes negotiating and drafting large scale M&A transactions, licensing and leasing agreements, acquisitions and divestitures, purchase and sales agreements, confidentiality agreements, joint ventures and dispute settlements. A known deal-maker, Chris keeps his eyes on his client’s overarching goals in matters such as portfolio management and relationship and trust building. An adept negotiator, he’s also comfortable working with contentious partners, taking the lead in strategic settlement negotiations with business partners and third-parties with a specialization in antagonistic relationship management.
Raised in a small coal mining town in Northeast Pennsylvania, as an 11-year-old, Chis knew that one day he would either be an attorney, or a point guard for the Chicago Bulls. The NBA’s loss was the legal profession’s gain, and he earned his J.D. at the University of Tulsa College of Law, studying in the school’s high-profile energy law program, and graduating with highest honors. Eventually working for Chevron U.S.A., Inc. and dreaming of one day working in California, when an opportunity opened in the company’s Bakersfield office, Chis jumped at the chance and since 2018, he’s been a proud member of the State Bar of California. He takes great satisfaction in contract transactions – closing a deal – and then, receiving a call from the same client, inviting him to lead the charge on their next big deal.
Outside of work, Chris unwinds by keeping in touch with a large network of family, siblings and friends around the country – a support system that he relishes in the context of his often stressful work in the law. He’s also a stand-up comedian with many gigs under his belt, including the big comedy clubs in Los Angeles.
