The man who is blind to the beauties of nature has missed half the pleasure of life.

Josiah Alter is an associate in our Fresno office who works in our Intellectual Property practice group. His work focuses on IoT, AI, intellectual property and data privacy issues, as well as trademark and copyright disputes. He’s adept at preparing litigation materials for trademark and trade secret cases; developing internal memorandums on client compliance with CCPA, GDPR, and ADA; along with responding to office actions at the TTAB regarding trademark applications.
Originally on a path to becoming a neurosurgeon, Josiah had the opportunity to intern for several Fortune 500 tech companies, and he there realized that brand protection – the most valuable asset that a company has – was where his true passion lies. This realization led to law school where he was part of the Trademark Moot Court Team, as well as the winner of the National First Place Appellate Brief. Josiah enjoys working with artists and content creators, working on their name and design and protecting their brands from the inception of their businesses.
Josiah sees himself as an artist who swims in the IP space, and he’s also a photographer who consumes lots of content. He is passionate about collecting vinyl and bourbon – and also a skier, hiker, rock climber and outdoorsman, committed to protecting the environment.
