The Next Decade of Transportation in the East Bay and Beyond

Insights from Amy Rein Worth, Chair of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission

As some of the East Bay’s most visible transportation projects wind down (including the Caldecott Tunnel and the eastern span of the Bay Bridge), what’s next? What are the major projects that will help facilitate the movement of goods and people through our region?  What challenges do we need to overcome? Come hear Amy Rein Worth, Chair of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, address the agency’s priorities for the sunny side of the Bay.

DISCUSSION TOPICS:

•  Top priorities in an aging infrastructure

•  Funding for future projects and programs

•  Expansion vs. “Fix It First” strategies

•  Development along the East Bay’s northern waterfront

•  Innovations in goods movement (toll roads, truck only

roads, impact of Port of Stockton, barging to Pittsburg)

•  Transit-oriented development

•  Priority Development Areas (PDA’s)
