Wendel Rosen Partner R. Zachary Wasserman Elected Chair of Bay Area Regional Collaborative

OAKLAND, Calif., Mar. 10, 2017 – R. Zachary Wasserman, a Real Estate and Land Use Partner with Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP, the largest law firm in the East Bay representing businesses throughout the region, has been elected chair of the Bay Area Regional Collaborative (BARC). Wasserman will serve a one-year term, effective Feb. 17. Wasserman is currently chair of the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission.

BARC is a 20-member collaboration that helps coordinate the regional planning and implementation efforts of four regional agencies of the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area to better integrate transportation, land use and air quality efforts. The four agencies include the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD), and the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC).

Wasserman focuses his practice on transportation issues, real estate and land use, and nonprofit organizations. He negotiates and drafts complex real estate and financial structures on behalf of private businesses and public agencies and works with state and local regulatory permitting agencies to carry out high-profile Bay Area real estate projects.

Wasserman has a long history of involvement in civic and economic development issues in the East Bay. He has played an active role with the Oakland Chamber of Commerce, serving as General Counsel since 2003 and as chair of the Leadership Oakland Committee since 1998. Wasserman has also serves as General Counsel and sits on the Executive Committee for the East Bay Economic Development Alliance.  Wasserman received his J.D. from Stanford University School of Law (1972) and his B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz (1969)
