About the Instructors:

Ryan Honeyman is the founder of Honeyman Sustainability Consulting, a Certified B Corporation. Ryan helps businesses save money, improve employee satisfaction, and increase brand value by helping them certify and thrive as a B Corp.

Honeyman Sustainability Consulting has been honored—alongside Patagonia, Seventh Generation, New Belgium Brewery, GoLite, and Method—on the B Corp “Best for the Environment List,” which recognizes businesses who have scored in the top 10% of all B Corps worldwide for positive environmental impact. Ryan has also been honored by B Lab, the nonprofit organization that certifies B Corporations and stewards the movement, as a recipient of the 2012 and 2013 “B Corp Champion Award” for his leadership fostering collaboration among the B Corp community.

Ryan has written articles for Sustainable Industries, TriplePundit, and the Credit Union Times. He has also been a featured speaker at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, San Francisco State University, Mills College, the Sustainable Enterprise Conference, the Marin Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center, the New Sector Alliance, Nextspace, and The Hub SoMa in San Francisco.

Ryan holds a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Bill Acevedo is a partner with the Oakland-based law firm Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP.  Bill handles all manner of business litigation, such as contractual disputes, trade secret matters, partnership disputes, product liability claims, director and officer liability, and unfair business practices claims.  In addition to his active litigation practice, Bill heads Wendel Rosen’s Green Business Practice Group, and he serves the transactional needs of clients who focus on doing well while doing good.  His clients cover a wide range of sustainable business sectors such as manufacturing, energy efficiency, apparel, and natural/organic foods and products, and they include emerging, small and mid-size businesses.  These businesses typically require legal services pertaining to entity formation, general business advice, contract negotiation/drafting, trademark and licensing issues, and employment counseling – standard services for thriving businesses.
