Robert N. Kamensky

Rob is a director in Fennemore’s Business & Finance group where he helps companies navigate mergers and acquisitions, supply chains, software and technology agreements, as well as all manner of other day-to-day matters.

Rob has been described as “the problem prevention department.” His goal is to provide legal solutions that will keep businesses running smoothly, and he aims to truly understand his clients and operations so that he can best support them. He works with businesses of all sizes, from fast-growing startups to global manufacturers, and has guided transactions worth tens of billions of dollars. Clients rely on him not only for legal guidance, but also for practical business insight and advice across industries.

Rob’s background in the computer industry also provides him with a strong foundation in information security, privacy, data management, and software implementation issues.

Throughout his career, Rob has represented major global clients, including serving as key partner to several Berkshire Hathaway companies with over $2 billion in annual sales and as primary outside counsel to one of the world’s largest industrial wheel and hardware manufacturers.

Rob earned his law degree from DePaul University College of Law, where he contributed to The DePaul Journal of Health Care Law, and his B.A. from the University of Iowa. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

  • Served as key partner to several Berkshire Hathaway companies providing assistance across a broad range of legal issues, including mergers and acquisitions, contract review, real estate, antitrust, and environmental and supply chain issues.
  • Served as counsel to one of the largest industrial wheel and hardware manufacturers with manufacturing and distribution facilities around the world.
  • Regularly leads mergers and transactions for a diversified industrial organization with facilities and employees around the world, with over $8 billion in annual revenues and nearly 20,000 employees.
  • Represented one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of consumer and industrial radio-controlled products, providing counsel on mergers and acquisitions, supply chain, distributor-dealer relations, and employment law issues.
  • Provided review, analysis, and advice on a client’s three-year $36 billion supply agreement.
  • Was the sole outside attorney invited to participate by a global energy management company on a companywide international cybersecurity committee focused on data security and data sharing across international borders.
  • Counsels a cloud-based B2B software provider on software agreements, data security, corporate governance, and customer agreements.
