Sustainability and Accessibility Issues in Shopping Centers
Wendel Rosen attorney Daniel Myers has been invited to present at NRTA’s 2015 Annual Conference, “Educating to Improve Profitability,” at the Orlando World Center Marriott.
Dan’s course will cover key green and accessibility issues facing retailers in shopping centers. Panelists will provide an overview of ADA and other accessibility regulations and requirements and discuss cost and compliance issues. The course will then provide strategies for retailers to try to avoid accessibility claims and respond to claims that are filed. On the green topic, panelists will examine the sustainability initiatives various retailers have begun to implement and will discuss how lawyers, paralegals, lease administrators, deal makers, and construction/design professionals for retail tenants can deal with the many opportunities and challenges of being green. Topics will include green leasing and construction, LEED certification, green building standards, government benefits and allocation of green benefits and burdens.
