Wendel Rosen Receives Deep Roots Award from Oakland Chamber

OAKLAND, Calif., June 19, 2015 – Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP, one of the largest law firms in the East Bay representing businesses throughout the region, was presented with the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 “Deep Roots” Award at the organization’s 110th Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon on June 10th at the Oakland Marriot City Center. In addition to the firm being honored as an award recipient, Wendel Rosen Partner Donald Simon presented architectural firm Gensler with the “Oakland Newcomer” Award.

The “Deep Roots” Award commended Wendel Rosen’s long commitment to and achievements in the Oakland community. Established on the corner of 12th and Broadway in 1909, the firm is still located at the same intersection, continuing to shape the landscape of the city through its involvement in key development projects, counsel to new and established businesses, and dedication to community organizations.

“I was honored to accept the “Deep Roots” award from the Oakland Chamber this year on behalf of Wendel Rosen,” said Partner Zack Wasserman. “The firm’s 106-year history of providing exceptional legal representation to Oakland’s public agencies, businesses, community organizations and individuals, its commitment to corporate responsibility and contributions to the vibrancy of our community, have made Wendel Rosen a place I have been honored to spend most of my career – along with many of my colleagues. We sincerely thank our clients and friends for continuing to trust and support the work that we do.”

Truly helping to shape the Oakland landscape, the firm has represented clients in the development of the (now) Marriott Hotel, the Oakland Convention Center, the Warriors practice facility, the U.C. Office of the President, Victorian Row in Old Oakland, Brooklyn Basin and many Port of Oakland projects, to name a few. In addition, Wendel Rosen attorneys have dedicated hundreds of pro bono hours to organizations including the Chamber, Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, 2.Oakland, East Bay Regional Park Foundation, HomeAid, Rebuilding Together Oakland, and the Oakland Zoo, as well as numerous task forces, committees, boards of directors, and leadership groups supporting our city.
