Rick Stacey
Rick L. Stacey is a trial lawyer whose practice focuses on construction and real estate matters. Rick has obtained damage awards in bench trials, jury trials, and arbitrations on behalf of his clients totaling more than $45 million. He regularly advises clients on private and public works construction projects including general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, suppliers, sureties, and project owners.
Rick has also served as a construction law expert and testified as such in a court case in Beijing, China concerning the interpretation and administration of cost-plus construction agreements. He has drafted a litany of construction documents including EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) and EPCM (engineering, procurement, and construction management) agreements.
Rick received his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Boise State University where he was nominated as a Top 10 Scholar, and his Juris Doctorate with a certification in Environmental and Natural Resource Law from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law.
Rick has spent most of his life working in or around construction and paid his way through college working in the local construction industry. This project management experience gives him unique practical insight into the industry. Today, Rick maintains strong connections to his lifelong Boise home golfing, mountain biking, and fly fishing. Rick particularly loves playing golf with his wife Aleja and their two daughters at Hillcrest Country Club, where he has served on a variety of committees, the Board of Directors, the Board of Directors Executive Committee, and helped to mentor the junior girls’ golf program. Rick is also an avid supporter of all things associated with Boise State University. He currently serves as a board member on the BSU Foundation Board. He has also served on the BSU Alumni Association and acted as its legal counsel providing pro-bono legal representation. Rick served as President of the BSU Alumni Association (2019 – 2021) and on its Executive Committee (2012 – 2022).
