Taylor Burgoon is a business litigation attorney focusing on complex business disputes primarily in Arizona and the greater Southwest. Taylor’s practice encompasses litigation and appeals in a broad range of areas, including representing government entities, businesses, and business owners in breach of contract disputes, high-risk tort defense, real property disputes, and email wire fraud scams, among others.

- Served as legal counsel to the City of Chandler in City of Chandler v. Roosevelt Water Conservation District, No. CV-24-0267-PR, 2026 WL 1141802 (Ariz. Apr. 28, 2026), where the Arizona Supreme Court declared that the one-year statute of limitations in A.R.S. § 12-821 does not apply to claims by a government-entity plaintiff against another government entity, helping secure a ruling that preserves flexibility for public entities to resolve disputes without the pressure of a strict one-year deadline.
- Won 10th Circuit appeal affirming summary judgment for large dairy distributor in high-dollar wrongful death lawsuit. Estate of Ratley by & through Ratley v. Awad, CV-19-00265-PRW, 2021 WL 1845497 (W.D. Okla. May 7, 2021), aff’d, 23-6169, 2025 WL 1166454 (10th Cir. Apr. 22, 2025).
- Won appeal affirming summary judgment for State of Arizona and State Trooper in lawsuit asserting 42 U.S.C. 1983 claim and state-law claims. Johnson v. State, 1 CA-CV 25-0271, 2026 WL 218669 (App. Jan. 28, 2026).
- Won appeal affirming summary judgment for our government-entity client in negligence suit relating to 911 dispatcher services and wrong-way driver policies. Harianto v. State, 1 CA-CV 23-0789, 2024 WL 4511250 (App. Oct. 17, 2024), review denied (Aug. 1, 2025).
- Successfully defended Proposition 123 providing for distributions to schools of monies from the State Land Trust in both state and federal court against challenges under the Enabling Act. Pierce v. Ducey, No. 1CA-CV 22-0007 (Arizona Court of Appeals October 25, 2022); Pierce v. Ducey, 965 F.3d 1085 (9th Cir. 2020).
- Won appeal on behalf of plaintiff/appellee business entity in lawsuit against sanitary district relating to required provision of sewer services. Talking Rock Land, LLC v. Inscription Canyon Ranch Sanitary Dist., 1 CA-CV 19-0284, 2020 WL 113380 (App. Jan. 9, 2020). Also successfully defended against related federal court suit. Allied World Specialty Ins. Co. v. ICR Sanitary Dist., CV-20-08091-PHX-DJH, 2021 WL 1951750 (D. Ariz. Feb. 24, 2021).
- Represented amicus curiae in successful Gift Clause argument on appeal to the Arizona Supreme Court. Schires v. Carlat, 250 Ariz. 371, 480 P.3d 639 (2021)
Litigation Work
- Second chaired and won jury trial in lawsuit asserting negligent design, signage, and traffic control against a government entity. Obtained unanimous jury verdict after only 15-minute deliberation.
- Second chaired and won bench trial on a directed verdict on claims of alleged fraud and misrepresentation in a business dispute.
- Third chaired and won bench trial on claims against government entity arising out of severe storm and resultant flooding of natural wash.
- Third chaired and won jury trial in lawsuit asserting claims against government entity arising out of severe monsoon storm and resultant flooding of drainage canal. Obtained unanimous jury verdict on all claims and affirmative defenses.
- Successfully defended city in zoning dispute that sought to prevent $7 billion semiconductor packing and test facility development that serves important national economic security purposes. Won case on motion to dismiss.
- Won summary judgment for government entity client in lawsuit alleging negligent road design and signing.
