Wendel Rosen’s Amara Morrison Appointed to Bay Planning Coalition Board of Directors
Amara Morrison, a land use partner with Wendel Rosen LLP, the largest law firm in the East Bay representing businesses throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and state, has been appointed to the Bay Planning Coalition Board of Directors.
Founded in 1983, the Bay Planning Coalition is a non-profit organization focused on addressing issues facing the San Francisco Bay, including unreasonable permit conditions, delays, and over-reaching policies that impede the economic use of land and water. Its mission is to advocate for and facilitate a strong industrial economy that supports a sustainable environment within the San Francisco Bay and its surrounding waters.
“The Bay Planning Coalition plays a pivotal role in the protection and economic sustainability of the San Francisco Bay, and with constantly evolving, and frequently overlapping and conflicting regulations, its work has never been more important,” said Morrison. “I am honored to serve on the board of this proactive organization, and I look forward to engaging with the coalition to protect San Francisco Bay’s watershed through the development and implementation of critical public policies.”
Morrison has nearly 30 years of experience counseling Contra Costa and Alameda County public sector clients on matters involving land use, zoning, development and redevelopment, environmental law, and resource protection and conservation. Prior to private practice, she was assistant city attorney for Livermore and Walnut Creek. She currently serves as co-general counsel to transportation agencies and numerous Geologic Hazard Abatement Districts. Morrison is a member of CREW East Bay and just recently retired from the board of directors for Save Mount Diablo after nearly 25 years of service. She is now an active participant in the National Charity League, Vista Oak Chapter.
Morrison received her J.D. and Masters of Environmental Law Studies, magna cum laude, from Vermont Law School (1987) and her B.S. from University of Michigan (1983).
